About Serenity With Denise Yoga, My Story

Serenity With Denise Yoga is taught in the traditional Iyengar Yoga and anatomy methodology, as introduced to the United States by B.K.S. Iyengar, who studied in India, under the teachings of Krishnamacharya.

You might enjoy this little bit of history: Krishnamacharya's students included many of yoga's most renowned and influential teachers: K. Pattabhi Jois (1915–2009); and B. K. S. Iyengar (1918-2014).

I began my yoga teacher training at the Sivananda Yoga Center, in Washington, DC, when I came home for the Summer of my Freshman year at college.  I studied with Teachers, known as Gurus, who studied under Krishnamacharya, Pattabhi Jois, and B. K. S. Iyengar.  With the combination of this anatomy-based methodology and vinyasa yoga, I learned to experience increased awareness, mindful relaxation, focus and a true sense of well-being.

What is Serenity With Denise Yoga?

Yoga is the union between body, mind and spirit and it encourages overall health and wellness. The hope is that students leave class feeling differently than when they walked in- physically, mentally or spiritually.

Practicing yoga is one way to help draw you back to that place of balance

and help you find Serenity.  Teaching Yoga brings joy to your  practice as you share that joy with the community.

Feeling balanced and centered, emotionally and mentally stable, physically strong, and having an overall feeling of peace and harmony—that’s what it means to experience Serenity. Allow me to help you find that place within yourself where you can rediscover balance and peace.

I'll see you on the mat or on the chair!
