Serenity With Denise Hosts Wellness Workshop In Support of National Women's Health Week, May, 2008

Serenity With Denise partnered with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, to help
celebrate their 9th Annual National Women's Health Week.
Serenity With Denise hosted a discussion at Petworth Library, on aromatherapy, healthy breathing, nutrition and the positive benefits of yoga, followed by a candlelight Serenity Yoga workshop. The workshop took place on Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Petworth Library.
The nationwide initiative, coordinated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office on Women's Health (OWH), encourages women to make their health a top priority and take simple steps for a longer, healthier and happier life. Engaging in physical activity most days of the week can include:

Eating a nutritious diet - fruits, vegetables, nuts and plenty of water

Visiting a healthcare provider to receive regular check-ups and preventive screenings

Avoiding risky behaviors, like smoking and not wearing a seatbelt
It's important to celebrate National Women's Health Week to remind women that taking care of themselves is essential to living longer, healthier and happier lives. Women are often the caregivers for their spouses or significant others, children and parents and we sometimes forget to focus on our own health. Research shows that when women take care of themselves, the health of their family improves. When we nurture ourselves, we are spiritually equipped to care for others.
