Mind Body Balance


Balancing the connection between your mind, your body and your spirit is vitally important to your health and your spiritual well-being. 

Developing an awareness of mindful relaxation can be cultivated through prayer and meditation which yields the art of being in control of your thoughts and allowing your spirit to guide your choice of action, and choosing your words carefully. We learn to  respond rather than to react.

What is Mindful Relaxation? It is the absolute awareness of ‘self’, your environment, your goals and objectives, without being selfish in nature; all rolled into a wonderful state of being.

Mindful relaxation is taking charge of your mind and telling the muscles in your body it's okay to relax, no matter where you are , no matter what the situation. 

  • It is the art of living daily, with less stress. Your desired outcome  is to be in a relaxed state of being, while being productive and having a presence of mind. It'ss possible!

Finding Balance.  Soothe your  mind, and re-energize your spirit with conscious breathing several times a day. Utilize the bath or shower as a time to rejuvinate your spirit, as well as your mind. Allow your back muscles to relax and your body with thank you!  Bring back a touch of pampering to balance the stress of everyday life with luxurious bath crystals, fragrant aromatherapy pillows and hand harvested herbal teas.

When you are breathing in and breathing out, if your stomach moves when you are inhaling and exhaling, you are breathing correctly.  If your chest is moving up and down, you are breathing "backwards" and not getting enough oxygen to increase mental clarity.  Learn these and other breathing techniques to relax and focus with Serenity Yoga classes and workshops. 

Enjoy this visual relaxation - Focus on the image on this page, for just a few minutes. Allow your breathing to slow down, while remaining focused on the image and capture the essense of the location, becoming one with nature.  Feel the gentle breeze, the warm air as you inhale through your nose and slowly exhale through the mouth. Continue to focus on your breathing.

  • Now, for just a few minutes, close your eyes.  I want you to relax and let go. Go inward, let go and let God help you find an inner place where you are comfortable. 

  • Visually, I want feel as though you are where this photo takes you. Close your eyes, for just a few minutes, breath in slowly, exhale through your mouth, slowly and relax.

When you open your eyes, take note of your breathing, your mental focus, your own serenity. This is mindful relaxation and it is necessary to give yourself mental relaxation breaks throughout your day. This practice will increase your focus, boost your immune system and help you to realize how richly blessed you are.

Becoming consciously aware of your breathing provides an increased level of oxygen to the brain, which in turn relaxes the muscles in your heart, which in turn, slows the pace at which the body moves. A natural domino effect that is necessary to longevity, and a healthy state of being. This is mindful relaxation. It's being able to prioritize what's important to you, deciding what's absolutely necessary right now and remaining calm and in control of your emotional state-of-being, without missing a beat.

Breathing Easy, Relaxing The Body.  Begin to breathe slowly. Deep, inhaling, relaxing breath through your nose, slowly.  Now, slowly, and gently, release the air, by gently blowing the air out, exhaling through your mouth.  

You are telling your brain to send signals to your body, to stay calm, to stay focused and continue to move on whether your immediate situation is potentially stressful, highly stressful or whether you are about to relax and enjoy the company of friends and family. Mind-body balance is a presence of mind. It takes time to cultivate this higher sense of awareness and is achievable.

Mental clarity begins when you feel calm and centered, and the way you look will follow suit.  You will become more focused mentally for your next business event. Awareness deepens and you are able to recognize feelings and emotions which provide feedback and guidance about every aspect of your life—from nurturing relationships to enhancing effectiveness at work.
